Login error: Security Provider connectivity issue

The DashboardFox Security Provider service is reporting connectivity issues with the DashboardFox database. Please have the DashboardFox Administrator check the database configuration settings for the DashboardFox Security Provider on the DashboardFox Web Server.

If you see this error on logging in , it means that DashboardFox is unable to communicate with it's backend database (MS SQL or embedded PostgreSQL).

If this is a new error ensure the database is operational and that there have been no changes to the database userid/password that DashboardFox uses to communicate with the database.

To confirm the database settings, go to c:\program files (x86)\dashboardfox and find the DashboardFox.WindowsServices.Config.exe application.  Right click and select "Run as Administrator"

Select the first tab, Database, and you will see the current database server, database, and user name.  Click Test Connection to confirm communication to the database.   If an error is returned, communication to the database is the issue.

In addition to checking the operational status of the database and confirming the correct user and password, here are some additional things to check:

  • For MS-SQL, ensure the SQL Browser Service is running
  • For MS-SQL, ensure the TCP/IP protocol is enabled via the SQL Server Configuration Manager under SQL Server Network Configuration
  • For the embedded PostgreSQL, ensure the DashboardFox Database Service is running via Control Panel -> Services
  • For the embedded PostgreSQL, ensure there is no other instance of PostgreSQL running on port 5432

If these checks do not solve the issue, please zip up the LOGS directory under c:\program files (x86)dashboardfox and send to our support team.
